Before Kalani was officially launched, the idea of creating innovative sun-protective clothing that combined function and style and could also be worn in everyday life, brought great excitement. What wasn’t known at the time was that the search for the perfect fabric would take months. Nearly six months, in fact.
Finding the perfect fabric was incredibly important. It had to provide UPF 50+ protection, be cool, breathable, pleasant against the skin, and tested for harmful substances and chemicals. Equally important was that the supplier worked toward environmental goals. Countless samples were ordered from around the world, tested, prototypes were made, and many were rejected. Finally, the samples that would become the most important building block of Kalani’s UV clothing were selected.
Throughout the entire product development process, meticulous care was taken to source the very best components for Kalani’s UV clothing to ensure a premium product from start to finish. The fabric features three-dimensional elasticity and a honeycomb structure (think of a beehive pattern), which allows air to circulate between the fibers, making the fabric both cool and more hygienic.
It is also the fabric’s special construction, along with the use of super-optical microfibers, that provides the garments with their protective effect against the sun, guaranteeing UPF 50+ protection.
